CAD Design Engineer

Job Summary

We require an experienced Design Engineer to join our busy and diverse team. The role holder will be responsible for the design, drawing and development of new products as well as maintenance of existing products. They will contribute to the Company’s success by assisting the Managing Director in matters relating to product development, value engineering and real time solving of production problems. Furthermore, they will be proactive and efficient whilst keeping a close eye on costs. This is a permanent opportunity based in Oldham, Greater Manchester. Duties will include:

  • Carrying out the design process and development for both new and existing products
  • To supervise and oversee the designs through the factory, ensuring accuracy and quality
  • To be responsible for preparing bills of materials for the manufacture of the designs and assemblies, including documenting of all part numbers and drawing references
  • To liaise with shop floor supervisors to point out potential quality issues through production
  • To create reports for potential pitfalls within the production process
  • Interpreting customer ideas and preparing drawings and 3D models for manufacture, including all dimensions, tolerances, finishes and notes
  • Assisting Senior Management with matters relating to product development
  • To identify opportunities to reduce costs in the design, materials used and manufacturing techniques
  • To provide feedback for continuous improvement of products and services

What are we looking for?

As this is a specialised design role, it is ideally suited for an experienced CAD Design Engineer from a sheet metal background. Furthermore, it is required that the ideal candidate is fully conversant with Solidworks or Inventor, specifically the sheet metal module and has proven experience of using this within a sheet metal environment. The chosen candidate must be able to practice good interpersonal skills to successfully liaise with shop floor supervisors. They must be able to recognise potential quality issues through production and indicate these to the supervisors. Experience with creating reports to outline production pitfalls would also be a distinct advantage as well as experience with creating bills of materials. Finally, the ideal candidate will be IT literate and proficient in all standard Microsoft programs.

Office Administrator

Due to continued growth, Constant Group Ltd are looking for an Administrator to join their existing administration team. The ideal Administrator candidate will have a proven track record in managing client relationships and monitoring client service levels.

The role involves:

  • An aptitude for producing documents and client communications of the highest standard
  • An articulate communicator, by e-mail, telephone and in person
  • An ability to work flexibly to deadlines and respond positively to changing requirements
  • A good level of IT literacy with the ability to understand our systems and communicate our capabilities effectively
  • An interest in/experience of client/relationship management, leading in to account management
  • Excellent attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in all client communications and tasks
  • An aptitude for/experience of using IT systems to generate reports, formatting and editing as required

Estimator

Skills required

  • Liaising with customers and establishing their needs and requirements from customer drawings / samples / outline briefs.
  • Complete CAD functions such as drawing, modifying and converting CAD files into a usable format for CNC Punching or Laser Cutting using our RADAN software.
  • Nesting and programming as economical as possible, selecting the correct material and keeping waste to a minimum
  • Assessing folding suitability and allocating cost
  • Assessing welding, assembly times and powder coating cost and allocating cost to quotation.
  • Obtaining competitive rates on bought in items and services.
  • Add product lines, descriptions and costs to our in house MRP system, e2i.
  • Provide revision control to any variations in the estimate and advise accordingly.
  • Responsibility for preparing bills of materials for the manufacture of  parts and assemblies, including documenting of all part numbers and drawing references

Requirements

  • As this is a specialised role, it is ideally suited for an experienced Estimator from a sheet metal background with a familiarity in using RADAN software including their estimating / mrp software e2i.
  • Applicants will be considered that can demonstrate familiarity with sheet metal work and have previous experience of different CAD and estimating / mrp software.
  • The chosen candidate must be able to practice good interpersonal skills to successfully liaise with sales staff and shop floor supervisors.
  • Finally, the ideal candidate will be IT literate and proficient in all standard Microsoft programs and show a willingness to learn and develop.

MIG & TIG Welders

We are recruiting two MIG & TIG fabrication welders that are required to work within our busy welding shop. Main work and duties involve the welding of Mild Steel, Stainless Steel and Aluminium sheet metal fabrications.

Skills Required

  • Reading engineering drawings for product information and instructions
  • Setting up components reading for welding
  • Following Health and Safety procedures
  • Experience in MIG welding
  • Experience in TIG welding

Job Information

  • Full training with regards to product knowledge will be given.
  • This position offers excellent rates of pay to be negotiated depending on experience, with a yearly review.
