In recent week’s we’ve managed to capture some photographs of a few projects at Constant Manufacturing running through our newly revamped Press Brake department of the business. We’ve three Press Brakes, including a TruBend and two Bystronic Xpert Press’. With the range of tooling, and wealth of experience in the team we’re able to bend a wide range of projects from large 3 metre sheets for cabinets through to small shelf clips and brackets.
100s of what seems to be a simple 100o bend on all four corners, for a small cabinet cover. In reality, the team planned a process that would allow the 100s of these sheet metal parts to be bent with accuracy and not be man-handled one by one.
Safety bends are designed to take a piece of sheet metal and bend it back onto itself to create a safe edge. These edges are often used in public-facing projects where a raw edge will be exposed to handling. The softened radius is much safer to the touch than the edge of a raw sheet.
Consistency is key with bending, as it’s tricky to undo a wrong bend, especially in thicker sheet metal pieces such as this shelving example. A 3mm thick double 90o set of angles were bent on our Bystronic Press Brakes, which were recently installed at Constant this year.
