11 Jun Project Snapshot: Custom canary yellow XL secure storage chest
We recently designed, manufactured and assembled a 125kg custom storage box for an existing infrastructure client.
The client wanted an extra large steel chest to store site tools, cables and equipment when not in use. Constructed from mild steel, the security box has two stainless steel locks, and gas strut arms to aid opening and shutting the heavy piano hinged lid. Inside there are two cut out holes for tubing and cables to be stored neatly, and compartments designed for easy organisation of the tools.
From the photos you’ll be able to get a feel for the size of this monster sized tool chest as it measured 1800x700x700mm (closed, with forkfeet feet).
The security locks are welded into place, and the only way a thief will get into this chest is to take an angle grinder to it!
When assembled, the metal storage chest was then powder coated to their corporate yellow and two fork lift feet added for manoeuvring! We wouldn’t paint the forklift feet due to the wear and tear they take, making the powder coating redundant.
From certain angles you would think the chest is floating in mid air, impressive for a box weighing approximately 125kg!
As we’ve an in-house CAD engineer team, fleet of skilled welders and a range of Trumpf machinery, this existing client of ours had confidence to come to us to produce this bespoke tool chest for them due to our large capabilities.
