Redesigning a customer’s metal communication cabinets

We are often approached by customers to redesign or redevelop their existing products from previous designs with other sheet metal fabricators, and this cabinet is one such case.

The existing metal cabinets need to be updated to accommodate new electrical components inside and give more air-flow for the cooling of equipment.  Likewise, they needed an upgrade to the metalwork finish to withstand the demands of the Great British weather!

After the CAD team completed the new cabinet design, that included features such as a door rim to help prevent water ingress, the laser cutter was in action quickly cutting the mild-steel sheets into flat ‘rectangles’ to be folded by the press brake team.

Once folded, one of our experienced welders started to form the unit with a combination of MIG and TIG welded seams and assemble the core part of the cabinet ready for the grinders to smooth off any weld marks before powder coating.
